Pyrford Lakes

In 1990, during the high influx of golf course development, former Ryder Cup stars Peter Alliss and Clive Clark began designing Pyrford Golf Club.

Both designers had a vision of turning the landscape into something truly unique. Alliss quoted once that “When Clive and I came across Pyrford, we knew we had found the location for a truly great course. We were so impressed by its natural potential and abundant water, we immediately wanted to create something special.”

Even before the course was opened, the full restriction of 650 members was already filled, however plans to open in the summer of 1993 was pushed back six months due to a delay with the clubhouse build.

On a cool but dry winter’s day on the 16th December 1993, one hundred and twenty members took place in the inaugural 9am shotgun Texas Scramble start, commemorating the opening of Pyrford Golf Club.
