Worsley Park

Course Overview

Worsley’s championship course is widely regarded as one of the finest inland courses in the North of England. It came in for particular praise from Golf World magazine, suggesting that the architects had excelled themselves by transforming a nondescript piece of farmland in to a thing of wonder.

Design Overview

The Worsley Park course was designed by Michael King and Ross McMurray of European Golf Design, the design company behind the European Tour and IMG. Ross has been responsible for designing three courses for Marriott in the UK.

Signature Hole

Worsley Park’s par 3, 7th hole is the gem of the course. At a challenging 177 yards, players have two options to take on this hole. A confident and accurate shot across the pond will leave the player with two puts for parr. Choosing to bring the fairway into play will keep less confident players on track.

History

The Worsley Park course was opened in the summer of 1998. Since then the course has played host to a number of high profile tournaments such as the European Challenge Tour and the Manchester Open. Most recently the Worsley Park course has had a 19th hole created, and a newly designed tee on the signature Par 3 7th hole.

The greens and tees are built to USGA specifications, thus avoiding the need for temporary surfaces during the winter seasons.
